It will be an all-Saratoga County final in the Section II, Class AA boys soccer playoffs.
Top-seeded Shenendehowa took care of business with a 3-0 semifinal victory over defending champion Guilderland, while Saratoga Springs upended No. 2 seed Bethlehem 2-1 in the other semifinal Thursday at Colonie Central High School.
David Clemens continued his strong senior season for Shen (16-1-1). The striker got the Plainsmen on the scoreboard midway through the first half on a direct kick and then added two more goals in the second half to seal the victory.
Guilderland did apply some pressure on Shen’s defense, but goaltender Josh Mabee stopped all four shots that got through to him to preserve the shutout.
Saratoga (13-5-1) avenged a regular season loss to Bethlehem by gaining a 2-0 halftime lead on goals by Pete Walsh and Noah Cadet. The Eagles got one goal back when Kenny McDirmith tallied off a feed from Mike Mulhall, but they couldn’t get the equalizer.
Saratoga and Shen meet for the Class AA crown at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Colonie.`
