Saratoga County Public Health has received a small allocation of H1N1 influenza vaccine.
Flumist is licensed for healthy people ages 2 49 because it contains the weakened live influenza virus. The following categories of people are eligible for the nasal H1N1 mist:
Healthy people up to the age of 49 who work in health care or are certified emergency medical services personnel.
Healthy people ages 2 – 49.
Healthy people up to the age of 49 who live with or care for an infant younger than 6 months
of age.
Injectable H1N1 vaccine with preservative (Thimerosal) is also available. The following categories of people who are eligible for the injectable H1N1 vaccine include:
Pregnant women — due to the current supply issues, this vaccine, with the preservative Thimerosal, can be administered to pregnant women. Pregnant women should inquire about this issue with their doctors.
