Meredith Cohn, the American Heart Association’s senior director for tomorrow’s North Country Start! Heart Walk, isn’t worried about the weather forecast.
There have been years when it rained, and it’s still very moving to see how many people show up to help us fight heart disease and stroke, said Cohn.
`The weather won’t stop so many people dedicated to improving the heart health of people in the Saratoga area.`
About 1,000 walkers are expected to attend the North Country Start! Heart Walk which will take place at the Saratoga Race Course. Last year’s walk raised about $100,000, and this year’s walk is on track to surpass that mark. Money raised goes to research and education programs of the American Heart Association, which fights heart disease and stroke.
`It’s life-affirming when we see all the survivors wearing their red caps,` said Cohn.
`To be able to honor them during the Red Cap wave reminds everyone of why they’re walking and raising funds.`
Registration begins at 9 a.m. There will be a Cap Survivor Wave at 10:15 a.m. at the front stage of the Saratoga Race Track, and the 1- or 3-mile walk begins at 10:45 a.m. at the Saratoga Race Course, 267 Union Ave., Saratoga Springs
