The Schenectady County Jewish Community Center will be hosting Yiddish Fest 2009 on Oct. 18 at 2 p.m.
After the success of last year’s event, the Schenectady JCC will bring composer/pianist Binyumen Schaechter and his two daughters, Reyna and Temma, performing as the Di Shekhter-Tekhter (the Schaechter Daughters). The troupe will present a musical montage of the experiences of Yiddish-speaking teenagers from 1850 to 1950. The troupe has performed the program in NYC, Paris, Melbourne, and Los Angeles.
The show is for all ages, and the program is done in both English and Yiddish.The afternoon also includes Klezmer music, an art exhibit, a slide show, and a lokshen-kugel dessert.
Admission is $10 for members,$12 for non-members, and $5 for students with refreshments included.
