The Christian Brothers Academy football team dropped to 0-3 in the Empire Division with last Friday’s 28-7 loss to undefested Ballston Spa in Colonie.
After allowing a touchdown on the Scotties’ opening drive, the Brothers (0-5 overall) came up with several big defensive plays in the first half to keep Ballston Spa (3-0, 5-0) out of the end zone. But it was only temporary, as the Scotties scored on their first two possessions of the third quarter to break open a close game.
Tailback Nick Tubolino led a balanced Ballston Spa attack with 53 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Tailback Kyle Warmt and quarterback Troy Garguilo combined for 127 rushing yards.
CBA quarterback Casey Crotty threw for 141 yards and a touchdown.
In other weekend football action, Shaker lost to Bethlehem 20-13, while Colonie was shut out by Schenectady 25-0.
Shaker (0-3, 1-4) led 13-7 following Conor Alund’s 56-yard touchdown run in the third quarter before Bethlehem (1-2, 2-3) rallied to take the lead.
Alund finished with 120 yards for Shaker, which visits Colonie (1-2, 2-3) Friday.`
