After a tough overtime loss to Bethlehem last Thursday, the Saratoga Springs boys soccer team rebounded with a 3-0 victory over Mohonasen Tuesday in a Suburban Council game.

The Blue Streaks (4-2-0) had several scoring chances in the first half before Caz Rafalik tallied in the final 10 minutes to give them a 1-0 halftime lead. Chris Jayko and Noah Cadet scored in the first 10 minutes of the second half to put the game out of Mohonasen’s reach.

Saratoga’s win came on the heels of a 2-1 loss at Bethlehem last Thursday. Rafalik scored off a Cadet assist to tie the game at 1-1 before Dan Carillo put Bethlehem ahead for good with six minutes left in the second overtime period.

The Blue Streaks will try to make it two wins in a row Thursday when they visit an Averill Park team that has allowed 45 goals in its first six games.

Elsewhere in the Suburban Council Tuesday, Shenendehowa suffered its first loss of the season with a 1-0 overtime setback against defending Section II, Class AA champion Guilderland.

The Plainsmen (5-1-0) had numerous scoring chances in regulation, but Guilderland goaltender Devin Bailey came up big with nine saves. Jordan Weeden then rattled home a shot in traffic in the second 10-minute overtime period to give the Dutchmen (4-1-1) the victory.

Shen’s offense had been in high gear prior to Tuesday’s shutout. The Plainsmen had outscored their opponents 30-3, including an 11-1 victory over Averill Park last Thursday.

Shen look to bounce back from Tuesday’s loss when it travels to East Greenbush Thursday to face Columbia.

Ballston Spa (4-2-0) had no trouble in handling Averill Park 10-2 Tuesday.

Connor Preece led the Scotties with three goals and two assists, while Kevin Marin and Corey Stewart each added a pair of goals.

Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake (3-3-0) suffered a 2-1 overtime loss to Colonie Tuesday.

Conor Clune tied the game at 1-1 in the first half for the Spartans before Yaw Agyie scored the game winner in overtime for the Garnet Raiders (2-3-1), who won their second consecutive game.

Ballston Spa travels to Guilderland Thursday, while BH-BL visits Bethlehem.`
