The Town of Colonie launched a new survey today (9/8) that will be distributed to small businesses in an effort to help strengthen the process for which businesses get started in the town and evaluate the climate for small businesses in the town.
The survey was completed in collaboration with the Colonie Industrial Development Agency and done through the Colonie Small Business Advisory Council.
The Colonie Small Business Advisory Council was formed in April 2009 under Town Supervisor Paula Mahan’s administration. One of its purposes is to evaluate the notoriously-lengthy application process a business owner must go through before moving their business to the town by evaluating town policies and procedures. It is also designed to provide support to small businesses of the community.
The survey asks small business owners a series of questions about the nature and history of their business, their experience in conducting business in the town and their need for town services with their business. More specific questions ask about how they felt about the application process for their business with the town and the resources the business owner would like to see made available by the town.
