Officer Bethany Vena sustained injuries on Wednesday, July 29 at approximately 8 p.m. while attempting to arrest David Kadio, 37, of Albany, on an arrest warrant.
Officer Vena and Officer Alan Bell were assigned to Justice Security Detail when Kadio, who was in town court for other charges, fled the building on foot. Kadio ran out of the Niskayuna Town Hall and made it across the street into a wooded area behind the Niskayuna branch of the Schenectady County Library, which is located on Nott Street East.
Vena assisted Bell in taking Kadio into custody, but injured her foot in the process. She was taken to Ellis Hospital’s Nott Street campus where she was treated for her injuries and was later released.
Kadio was arraigned before Town Justice Paul Zoderman on charges of petit larceny, two counts of criminal impersonation in the 2nd degree, felony forgery in the 2nd drgree, felony assault in the 2nd degree and resisting arrest charges. He was sent to the Schenectady County Jail without bail. He will return to Niskayuna Town Court on Wednesday, August 5.`
