The Saratoga Spring Police Department announced today that they arrested Jose Romero, 41, of 28 Short Rocks Road, Branford, Conn., for allegedly stealing a horse at the Saratoga Race Course on Tuesday, July 28.
Police received a call on Tuesday from the owner of a horse that was missing from its stall. The horse was shortly thereafter located in the possession of the owner’s ex-boyfriend on the Oklahoma Training Track side of the grounds. The horse, a quarter horse paint thoroughbred named Buddy valued at $3,000, was not harmed and was returned to the owner.
Romero was charged with grand larceny in the third degree, a felony, and was arraigned in city court on Wednesday morning. He was remanded to the Saratoga County jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail. He is scheduled to appear in city court on Thursday, Aug. 13.
