With the filing deadline for election petitions over, the Conservative and Independence parties will have Town Supervisor Ken Runion on their lines, and the Republican Party will have Peter Golden on its, according to the Albany County Board of Elections.
Runion said the Democrats will host a caucus in August to determine who gets that party’s line, but the Conservative and Independent lines required petition signatures.
It went very well, he said. `We had pretty much what we needed by the end of June for the Conservative Party.`
Runion discussed some of the difficulties of collecting signatures when the summer months roll around. He said his goal was to collect as many signatures as possible by the end of June because many people go away on vacation once school lets out. He also said this year had particularly bad weather, making the petition process difficult.
Peter Golden, the Republican challenger to Runion referred comments to party chair Ted Danz. Danz was unavailable for comment at press time.
