Capital District teams fared well at last weekend’s Rose and Kiernan/Clifton Park International Soccer Tournament.
Clifton Park Premier teams dominated the under-16 boys division, as the U16 boys defeated the U15 boys 4-0 in Sunday’s championship game. The U16 boys defeated PFC Premier 1-0 in the quarterfinals and downed Far Post U16B 2-0 in the semifinals to reach the finals, while the U15 boys downed the Bethlehem Knights, RCSC U16 and the Greece Eclipse by a combined score of 7-1 to make it to the finals.
The Clifton Park Soccer Club Steamers also made the playoff portion of the U16 boys division. The Steamers edged the ADSC Fire 3-2 before losing to the Greece Eclipse 6-5.
The Clifton Park Attack girls team didn’t allow a goal in the playoff portion of the U17/19 division on its way to the title. The Attack shut out Soccer United U18 4-0 in the semifinals and defeated PFC U18 2-0 in the finals.
The Clifton Park Celtics U23 women’s team went undefeated in its three-game series against Q United. The Celtics won last Friday’s match 3-0 and forged a scoreless tie against Q United Saturday before posting a 5-1 victory in Sunday’s third match.
Three more Capital District-based teams won their divisions. The Blackwatch Rovers U12 boys team defeated PFC U12 Premier 2-0 in the finals of its division, while the Alleycat Wildcats U12 girls edged the Clifton Park Panthers 1-0 for the Black Division title. Bethlehem’s U23 men’s team shut down Empire Academy 2-0 in the finals of its division.

This year’s Rose and Kiernan/Clifton Park International Soccer Tournament featured approximately 150 teams from New York, New England and several foreign countries. Games were played at Clifton Common and the Shenendehowa Central School campus.`
