A total of 38 parking tickets were issued as the result of a one-day illegal handicap parking enforcement effort.
There were 16 law enforcement agencies that participated in the sweep, that took place on Wednesday, July 8, and the Albany Police Department issued the most tickets, with 19.
The Colonie Police Department issued the next most with 15 and the Menands and University at Albany Police Department issues two tickets each.
The tickets represent a total of $5,965 to be paid in fines, according to the Albany County Sheriff’s Department.
The program, Project Access, was implemented in December of 1994, and has included 41 parking enforcement efforts. There have been 2,001 summonses issued, and $217,470 in fines have been levied.
The effort is designed to raise awareness and compliance of the parking laws and its results will be announced on Thursday, July 9.
