Police have made an arrest in conjunction with the discovery of weapons and a grenade in a Kirby Road apartment.
Agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms arrested Daniel Day, 22, of 14A Kirby Road shortly after midnight on Thursday, May 21, in the Town of Milton, according to the Saratoga Springs Police Department. He was brought to Spa City police and processed on an arrest warrant out of Saratoga Springs City Court.
Day was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, a felony, and two misdemeanors: assault in the third degree and criminal mischief in the fourth degree.
Saratoga Springs police responded to the apartment on a report of a domestic disturbance in the early morning of Wednesday, May 20. Day was no longer on the scene when police arrived, but they said they found several weapons and a hand grenade.
The building was evacuated and the State Police Bomb Squad responded to the scene. According to police, the grenade recovered did contain explosive material.
Spa City police, assisted by the ATF, were able to obtain a warrant for Day’s arrest on Wednesday afternoon, and ATF agents took him into custody without incident later that night.
The victim of the original domestic disturbance call was treated at Saratoga Hospital for non-life threatening injuries and was released.
An investigation is ongoing.
