After losing back-to-back games against Shaker and Colonie last week, the Niskayuna softball team bounced back with a 14-0 Suburban Council victory over Ballston Spa Monday.
Emily O’Donnell led the Silver Warriors (10-5 league) with two singles, a double, three RBI and four runs scored. Kiersten Gray doubled twice and singled to drive in three runs, and Gina Grant added three hits including a double.
Rachel Annello and Lauren Giglio combined to pitch a two-hit shutout for Niskayuna, which suffered a 5-0 loss to Shaker last Wednesday and a 9-5 setback against Colonie last Friday.
In other softball action Monday. Mohonasen’s rally fell short in a 9-6 Suburban Council loss to Colonie, while Schalmont fell to Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk 8-0 in a Colonial Council game.
Colonie (10-5) took a 7-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning and led 9-1 after four innings before Mohonasen (1-13) mounted a comeback. The Mighty Warriors scored four runs in the fifth inning and added another run in the top of the seventh.
Karlie Williams led Mohonasen with two hits, two RBI and three runs scored. Williams doubled and singled as part of the Mighty Warriors’ eight-hit attack.
In Ravena, pitcher Emily Cochrane limited Schalmont (11-8) to two hits to help R-C-S (8-12) pull off the victory. Britni Rosato had the big hit for the Indians with a two-run double.`
