Colonie police are investigating a hunting incident that resulted in injury at 5:45 a.m. on Saturday, May 16.
According to police, the incident occurred in a wooded area off of Troy-Schenectady Road near Keeler Motor Car in which two hunters, Anthony Santoro, 25, and Vincent Santoro, 23, both of Cohoes, were injured.
Police said the injuries were possibly caused by the discharge of a long gun by David V. Ferrara, 41, of Waterford, who works as a Corrections Officer for the Albany County Sheriff’s Department. Ferrara was accompanied by Lt. Edward Watson of the Watervliet Police Department at the time of the incident, police said.
Both Santoros were transported to Albany Medical Center for treatment of their wounds, which police said were non-life threatening, and released.
The incident is being investigated by Colonie police in assistance with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
