After losing to Saratoga Springs 17-7 last Wednesday, the Colonie girls lacrosse team was looking for a way to bounce back.
The Garnet Raiders (5-6) found it with a 16-7 victory over Columbia in last Friday’s Suburban Council game in East Greenbush.
The game was tight through the first half with Columbia gaining an 8-7 lead at the break, but Colonie outscored the Blue Devils 9-1 in the second half to pull away for the win.
Lauren Kross scored six goals and added three assists for Colonie. Rachel Scofield contri-buted a hat trick, while Alli Griffin, Demmi O’Brey and Kyle Plante each added a pair of goals.
Things did not go Colonie’s way in last Wednesday’s game against Saratoga. The Blue Streaks (8-6) jumped out to a 9-3 half-time lead, and they never looked back.
Taylor Matties scored three goals, and Sarah Campbell added four assists for Saratoga. Scofield tallied three times for Colonie.
In other girls lacrosse action last week, Shaker’s offense roared to life in victories over Columbia and Shenendehowa.
The Blue Bison (9-3) jumped out to a 14-3 lead against Columbia and cruised to a 22-4 victory last Wednesday. Lexi Dalcol led the way with six goals, while Adrianne Devine chipped in with four goals and four assists.
Lindsay Downey and Charlotte Rehfuss each added hat tricks for the balanced Shaker attack, which placed 10 players in the scoring column.
The Blue Bison continued their offensive blitz last Friday with a 19-5 victory over Shenendehowa. Shaker did most of its damage in the first half, as it raced out to a 14-5 lead.
Devine and Dalcol led the assault once again for Shaker. Devine scored five goals and added an assist, while Dalcol contributed four goals and three assists. Caroline Rehfuss also tallied four times.
Both Shaker and Colonie were in action Monday. Shaker visited Bethlehem with the hope of avenging an 8-7 loss two weeks ago, while Colonie hosted Shen.`
