Three businesses on Route 50 in Burnt Hills that were gutted by fire last summer will begin reopening their doors in the coming weeks.
Reflections Hair Salon, Hott Tropics Tanning Salon and a Dunkin Donuts branch located near the intersection of Lakehill Road were all destroyed by a late-night blaze on July 10. The fire started in a back room of the tanning salon and burned for about an hour before a passerby noticed smoke and contacted the fire department.
According to a representative of Dunkin Donuts corporation Dunkin Brands, a grand reopening for the coffee store is planned for mid-May.
The next closest Dunkin Donuts store is also on Route 50, 3.4 miles away in Glenville.
Reflections owner Jennifer Rowe has been seeing her clients in a temporary office in Burnt Hills since the fire, but said she is eager to move back into her old digs. The fire was a big setback for her, however, as she had just made updates to her equipment.
I had just redone the shop the month before and hadn’t updated my insurance, so I lost around $25,000, said Rowe.
She expects to be practicing in her former location by the end of May.
Hott Tropics was also destroyed in the fire. The owner could not be reached for comment, but after July’s fire, she told The Spotlight that she plans to rebuild in the same location. A Hott Tropics sign is up in the complex.“
