Albany County Legislator Chris Higgins, D-Center Square, will be hosting a public hearing at the beginning of the County Legislature’s Tuesday, March 24 meeting to discuss legislation he sponsored to ban text messaging while driving in Albany County.
Higgins’ proposal has law enforcement officials disciplining those caught texting while driving with traffic offense tickets. The law would make the offense a violation, and would be punishable by a fine of up to $150.
Bringing the cell phone law into the twenty-first century by prohibiting texting and e-mailing is a no brainer, said Higgins.
