Colonie Police are investigating a DWI-related crash that took place around 9:40 p.m.on Monday, Feb. 23 on Dunsbach Ferry Road.
Police said Nicholas Brock, 40, of Cohoes, was operating a 2008 Dodge pickup west on Dunsbach Ferry Road, in Latham, when he sideswiped a 2008 Ford after crossing lanes. The car Brock’s swiped was being operated by Thomas Green, 47, of Latham. Green’s wife and children were also in the vehicle.
According to police, Brock then left the scene of the accident and continued to drive westbound on Dunsbach Ferry Road, while Green turned around, following Brock and calling the police. Then, police said, Brock was witnessed by Green driving off the right hand side of the road, striking both a tree and a parked car at 127 Dunsbach Ferry Road.
The passenger in Brock’s car, Gail Lindsey, of Clifton Park, was seriously injured, police said.
When Green and the resident of 127 Dunsbach Ferry Road approached the car to help Lindsey, police said, Brock once again drove away, with Green following behind him, eventually ending at the intersection of Rt. 9 and Dunsbach Ferry where Brock voluntarily pulled over and police arrived.
Police said Brock was arrested at the scene on felony DWI charges, as well as charges of leaving the scene of a personal injury auto accident and other traffic violation. In addition, police said, Brock’s license was revoked at the scene of the accident.
Police said Lindsey was transported to Albany Medical Center by Colonie EMS with broken bones and internal injuries.
