Sometimes Valentine’s Day can bring stress to those who have been hit by Cupid’s arrow but do not carry his Olympic-sized wallet.
One Guilderland shopping center is offering an online guide that lists an array of presents ranging in price and coming from a variety of stores.
Stuyvesant Plaza announced its 2009 electronic Valentine’s Day gift guide, available at www.stuyvesantplaza.com, to help shoppers gear up for the amorous holiday.
The guide is designed to provide an array of diverse and affordable selections from the stores and boutiques inhabiting the plaza and is the first of its kind for the lovers holiday.
`We wanted to show people that there are options available here in a variety of price ranges,` said Janet Kaplan, the vice president of real estate for the plaza.
She said the online shopping guide had success at Christmas and said the plaza is hoping to release other guides for future holidays.
`We’ve gotten a good response from the tenants,` she said.
The gift guide suggests items ranging from gourmet food to creative and romantic articles of clothing. There are gifts for men and women listed, range in price from less than $25 to more than $250.
Stuyvesant Plaza will also be offering Valentine’s Day staples, such as flowers and jewelry, at Emil J. Nagengast Florist, Pearl Grant Richmans and Frank Adams Jewelers.
Some items under $25 include aromatherapy candles and flowering tea gift sets from It’s Only Natural, and Circles is offering `risquE` Valentine’s Day Hanky Panky lace thongs.
Jean Paul Spa is offering gift sets starting at $25, and general manager Michael Mande said there will be gifts to accommodate everyone’s pocketbook. Spa gift sets will be wrapped in boxes and baskets and include bath soaks, creams, soaps and scrubs.
Mande said Valentine’s Day is an important time of year, and it is significant in American society.
`There’s definitely a cultural thing about Valentine’s Day and February,` he said. `[It’s time to] put a little love in everyone’s heart.`
Other stores offering budget-friendly presents are Edleez Tobacco, Bountiful Bread, Coldstone Creamery and the restaurant Creo.
Creo will serve a special Valentine’s Day meal for two that includes appetizers, entrees and dessert for less than $100.
Other presents closer to the $100 mark can be found at Verizon Go Wireless and CRWireless. They are featuring red and pink Blackberry phones for the holiday. Both stores are offering the items for under $100 after rebate.
