The Mohonasen girls basketball team took another step toward locking up the Suburban Council South Division title Tuesday with a 63-50 victory over Colonie in Rotterdam.
The Mighty Warriors (12-2 league, 16-2 overall) outscored the Garnet Raiders (7-7, 9-9) 19-8 in the second quarter to take a 29-21 halftime lead. Mohonasen continued the offensive onslaught with a 21-point third quarter that put the game out of Colonie’s reach.
Michelle Aviza made seven three-pointers as part of a 25-point night to lead the Mighty Warriors, who remained two games ahead of second-place Bethlehem (11-4, 13-6) in the loss column. Dayna Lashin and Lea McClain each added 12 points.
Shayla Madden led Colonie with 21 points.`
