The Colonie boys basketball team moved into a three-way tie with Mohonasen and Guilderland for the Suburban Council South Division lead with Tuesday’s 63-45 victory over Mohonasen.
The Garnet Raiders (10-4 league, 12-6 overall) broke open a close game by outscoring the Mighty Warriors (10-4, 12-6) 25-13 in the fourth quarter.
Kyle Mafrici netted 27 points including four three-pointers to lead Colonie, which has won five games in a row and seven out of its last eight contests. Herb Tedford contributed 12 points.
Nick Battaglia’s 12 points paced Mohonasen. Anthony Robustiano chipped in 11 points, and Jordan Macejka added 10 points.
Guilderland (10-4, 12-6) earned its share of the South Division lead with a 78-64 victory over Columbia Tuesday. The Dutchmen outscored the Blue Devils 45-31 in the second half to end a two-game losing streak that cost them the outright lead.
Jon Terry led four Guilderland players in double figures with 25 points. Pat Quinn contributed 18 points, Kevin Kost netted 14 points and Chris Mannarino added 11 points.`
