The Guilderland Central School District will host a community forum Tuesday, Jan. 13, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. to brainstorm ideas for the 2009-2010 budget, according to district officials.
The forum will be held at Guilderland High School and will feature a presentation on the state of the district and small group discussions related to academics, class size, sports and extracurricular activities.
There is no doubt our nation is facing difficult times. The words ‘recession,’ ‘collapse,’ and ‘bailout’ have become standard fare on the pages of newspapers and magazines across the country, and according to experts, the current economic crisis will take years to play out. As a result, schools will inevitably face intense competition for limited resources, according to a written information provided by the district.
Volunteer communications specialists from the Capital Region BOCES will be on hand to help facilitate the small group discussions.
The district is asking the public to RSVP online or by calling 456-6200, ext. 3102, to help estimate seating for the event. Communication specialist Amy Zurlo said no one will be turned away from the event, however the district would appreciate advance notification of attendance.“
