The Burnt Hills/Scotia-Glenville hockey team has a problem.
The Spartans (3-6-1) can score goals and defend well. They just have a hard time getting a lead. In most of Burnt Hills/Scotia’s 10 games entering Tuesday’s contest against LaSalle, the Spartans have allowed the first goal.
The kids are showing resiliency, but it would be nice if they got out of the gates quicker, said Burnt Hills/Scotia coach Walt Peretti Jr.
Lately, that habit has haunted the Spartans. At last weekend’s Cicero-North Syracuse Tournament, they fell behind early and couldn’t recover in losses to Cazenovia and Cicero-North Syracuse.
Still, Peretti likes how his team is playing. `We have a pretty balanced group this year,` he said. `We’re starting to come together and do some good things.`
The Spartans are hoping to change that as they enter the heart of their Capital District High School Hockey League season.
`It just seems like we’re not able to get three goals before the other team gets three goals,` said Peretti.“
