Demetrius Lanier, 35, of Albany, and Shateek Lanier, 19, of Troy, were arrested on Sunday, Jan. 4, at 1168 Loudon Road on felony charges of criminal possession of stolen property, as well as possession of burglary tools.
According to police, police responded to a call of a suspicious vehicle on the side on upper Rt. 9.
The vehicle was a large Budget rental truck, police said.
Upon further investigation of the vehicle, police said they noticed Demetrius and his son, Shateek had with them six tombstones that were reported stolen from Stefanazzi and Sprago Granite Co. Shateek was the passenger in the vehicle, police said. Also in the truck, police said they found a claw hammer and hand cart.
Both men were arrested and transported to the Colonie police station, and later arraigned. Demetrius was sent to the Albany County jail.
