The owner of Garcia’s Mexican Restaurant, formerly of Central Avenue in Colonie, filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Albany today (Wednesday, Dec. 31).
The Mexican eatery closed Sunday, Nov. 30. The owner, Rick Lamparelli, cited the bad economy and stark competition by fast food Mexican chains, such as Moe’s, for forcing Garcia’s to close.
Garcia’s began as a chain restaurant originating in Scottsdale, AZ. The Central Avenue location branched away from the chain and became its own entity in the Capital Region.
Its closing came nearly 30 years after its begining roots in Arizona.
