As it has done every five or six years since 1978, the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Board of Education is looking for residents to serve on a committee to evaluate the school district’s infrastructure and construction needs.
Having finished $16 million in renovation work approved by voters in 2003, Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake is starting to identify the most urgent projects for its next cycle of potential building improvements.
A Programmatic Renovations Needs Committee will meet from January to early June to develop recommendations for the Board of Education. The new 29-member committee will be co-chaired by a to-be-named community resident and BH-BL’s Assistant Superintendent for Support Services Jacqueline St. Onge. Members will include representatives from the various schools and staff groups as well as seven non-staff community members, five PTA representatives, two high school students and two ex-officio school board members.
Interested residents should submit their names and brief information on their background or interest to Superintendent Jim Schultz by Dec. 10 at the BH-BL District Offices, 50 Cypress Drive, Glenville 12302.
The Board of Education hopes to appoint committee members Tuesday, Dec. 16. A regular meeting time will be set in January by committee members themselves, but has typically been in the past in the late afternoon.`
