A new Guilderland-based painting business is calling its services recession proof.
John Hoffman, who opened Fresh Coat paints out of his Guilderland home, said even in trying economic times, there is a market for his services. He said people selling their homes often paint them to raise the value, and those staying in their homes frequently want to make improvements.
`Whether they are selling or staying, people are always looking for affordable ways to freshen up their homes,` Hoffman said.
He said the value of a home could be raised as much as $6,000 by painting the interior for only $1,500.
`You can get 500 to 600 percent return on the investment,` he said.
Hoffman said all of his painters have at least 10 years of experience in the field and will serve clients throughout the Capital District.
Hoffman said Fresh Coat also offers a paint-now-pay-when-you-close plan for real-estate agents to help them sell homes.
`It’s a selling feature for them also,` Hoffman said of a newly painted home.
The Albany location is the fourth Fresh Coat to open in the state, according to information provided by a Fresh Coat marketing representative. The expansion into the area is part of an aggressive, nationwide plan to open 40 locations a year throughout the country for the next five years.
Fresh Coat recently made a new service available to provide businesses, schools, hospitals and restaurants with its painting services.
Hoffman said business has been good so far since he officially opened up on Thursday, Nov. 6, and he has made trips as far as Saratoga for painting jobs.
`We understand the importance of earning our customers’ trust and strive to ensure that our professional attitude and exceptional work stand out from the competition,` said Hoffman.“
