Clifton Park Town Hall, located at 1 Town Hall Plaza, Clifton Park, is an official drop-off site for Operation Adopt A Soldier, a local not-for-profit organization that collects much needed everyday items for members of the U.S. military who are deployed abroad.
A collection box has been placed in the first-floor lobby of Town Hall and will remain there through the end of the year. Suggested donations for soldiers include sunscreen, lip balm, socks, toilet paper, sanitary wipes, magazines and many other personal care and comfort products. Other items that can be accepted include candy bars, trail mix, tooth paste, deodorant, newspapers and shaving cream. A full list of suggested items is available online at www.cliftonpark.org.
As the holiday season approaches, I encourage Clifton Park residents to support our men and women in the military, many of whom are far from home, Town Supervisor Phil Barrett said. `Even a small item will remind our soldiers that we are thinking of them and we hold them in our hearts and prayers.`
Operation Adopt A Soldier drop boxes are also located at the Mail Center USA of Clifton Park on Grooms Road and the Pioneer Savings Bank at 1208 Route 146.
Since it was founded in 2003, Operation Adopt A Soldier has sent more than 1,300 cases of items to thousands of soldiers abroad. For information, visit www.operationaladoptasoldier.org.“
