The Republican candidate for the 105th Assembly District seat noted that a highlight of his campaign has been remaining upbeat and positive.
It’s been positive, 100 percent upbeat, based on facts and issues, said George Amedore, R-Rotterdam.
Amedore is up for re-election. He won the first race in a special election to finish the remainder of Paul Tonko’s two-year term in 2007, when Tonko was elected to lead the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority.
Amedore’s priorities are to reduce property taxes and to oppose all new increases in sales and income taxes. He plans to vote against state budget increases with the hopes of creating jobs by bringing new business to the area, and he wants to reduce gasoline taxes, the cost of prescription drugs and our dependence on foreign oil.
`My priorities are to bring real property tax relief to the 105th Assembly District, creating jobs and bringing fiscal discipline to Albany. I think we need to be more fiscally disciplined and work our way out of this [economic] situation,` said Amedore.
`We need to cut the spending ` that is becoming the biggest burden on the taxpayers. It’s putting more money on the taxpayer without any accountability. We do not see a high rate of return on the taxpayer’s investment, so when it comes to a fiscal policy it is to try to make sure that its going to the initiatives and to the programs that are most needed and that are affecting and changing the lives of people whose lives most need to be changed,` said Amedore.
Amedore serves as vice president of Amedore Homes in Albany. Amedore Homes was featured on the ABC show `Extreme Makeover Home Edition,` when it built a home for Debbie Oatman-Gaiman and her four sons. Amedore lives in Rotterdam with his wife, Joell, and their three children.“
