Firefighters from the Fuller Road Fire Department and Village of Colonie Fire Department extricated a Colonie Central High School student from his Toyota Camry after he was involved in a one-car accident on Wednesday, Sept. 17.
According to Albany County Legislator Carl Zeilman, firefighters responded to the scene at approximately 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday in the Colonie Central High School parking lot. The driver had become trapped in his automobile after the car ran over a concrete barrier post, impaling the underbody of the vehicle and pinning the driver’s legs against the dashboard of the car.
Upon responding, the firefighters removed the roof of the vehicle and rescued the victim. Colonie EMS transported the victim to a nearby hospital.
