In his concession speech, 21st Congressional Candidate Phil Steck announced his campaign was ending and that he would not be running on the Independent ticket in the general election.
He greeted over 80 voters at his headquarters on Central Avenue minutes before the announcement was made that Paul Tonko had won the Democratic line in the primary election tonight (Tuesday, Sept. 9), telling the audience that he had already made attempts to call Tonko and congratulate him on his winning.
The stars just weren’t quite aligned just right, he said, speaking of his loss, after earlier telling the crowd, `I think we worked harder than any other candidate.`
Later, he told the media he would endorse and support Paul Tonko and that his `campaign is over.` When asked again if he would continue to run in the election on the Independent line, he repeated that his campaign was over.
