Schenectady County Legislator Jim Buhrmaster took the primary race for the Republican line in the 21 Congressional District Tuesday, Sept. 9.
He received 7,673 of the votes to his opponent Steven Vasquez’s 3,404 votes.
In the end I think the public wanted someone who lives in their district and understands their issues, Burhmaster said.
Buhrmaster said he was interested to see whom he would challenge in the race, but that he was not concerned.
`We will be ready for whoever,` Burhmaster said.
`I am a people person and they are all politicians,` he said, speaking of his potential challengers on the Democratic line.
Buhrmaster arrived at his headquarters in Scotia shortly after 9 p.m., after he upheld his duties as a Schenectady County legislator during their monthly meeting. More than 40 supporters, who cheered on their pick for the Republican nomination, welcomed Burhmaster to his headquarters.
