Joshua P. Garrett, 22, of Delmar, was arrested by Bethlehem police on Thursday, July 3, for fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance; fifth-degree attempted criminal possession of a control substance; fourth-degree grand larceny all felonies, and attempted petty larceny, a misdemeanor.
Police said an investigation by the New York State Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement found that Garrett is suspected of taking 2,200 Hydrocodone 10/325 pills from the CVS Pharmacy in Delmar.
Hydrocodone, a generic narcotic painkiller similar to Vicodin, is a schedule III controlled substance.
The larceny was said to occur between Feb. 21 and June 24, according to the arrest report.
Garrett did provide a statement to members of the New York State Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement implicating himself in said incidents,` the report said.
In addition, pharmacy personnel observed Garrett attempting to steal a 100-count bottle of Hydrocodone 10/325 pills from CVS on June 24.
Garrett turned himself in to the Bethlehem Police Department with his attorney, and Justice Paul Dwyer set his bail at $20,000 during his arraignment in Bethlehem Town Court.
Garrett was scheduled to return to court on July 15.
