Three Malta minors will be facing charges after allegedly stealing a red Chevrolet and partaking in an early morning joy ride Thursday, July 10.
State Police responded to a complaint of reckless driving in the Malta Gardens Trailer Park and arrived on the scene at around 2:30 a.m. Thursday morning. They observed the car on Avenue D at the intersection of Avenue G and activated their emergency lights. The Chevrolet then accelerated, striking a parked vehicle and then a trailer. The stolen vehicle was totaled.
Police say the childrentwo females ages 10 and 12 and a male, age 11had snuck out of their homes unbeknownst to their parents and stolen the unlocked car. They allegedly found keys in the vehicle the night before.
The 10-year-old was said to be sitting on the 12-year-old’s lap. All three children sustained minor injuries from the collisions.
The 10-year-old girl and 11-year-old boy were charged with Grand Larceny (4th Juvenile Delinquency) and were released to their parents. All three will be appearing in Saratoga County Family Court to face other pending charges.
