The Guilderland girls lacrosse team used an 8-1 first-half run to pull away for an 18-10 victory over Shaker in Thursday’s Section II, Class A championship game at Union College.
Chelsey Newman and Bridget Daley combined to score 10 of the Lady Dutch’s 18 goals as Guilderland (20-0) won its second consecutive Sectional title. Newman finished with six goals, while Daley contributed four goals.
Danielle Tetreault chipped in a hat trick, and Jen Madsen added a goal and two assists for Guilderland, which led 5-4 midway through the first half before pulling away for good.
Lexi DalCol tallied three times, and Kat Thomas added two goals and three assists for Shaker, which finished the season with a 16-3 record — all three losses coming against Guilderland.
In Class B, Niskayuna built a 6-1 halftime lead and cruised to a 13-3 victory over Averill Park to win its second consecutive Sectional title.
Marie Mutryn scored four goals and assisted on two more to lead a balanced Silver Warrior attack. Allison Pfohl recorded a hat trick, and her younger sister, Shannon Pfohl, added two goals and two assists.
Both Guilderland and Niskayuna will play in regional games Wednesday at the University at Albany, beginning at 3:30 p.m.`
