The Shenendehowa boys track and field team continued its run of championships.
The Plainsmen placed athletes in the top three of nearly every event to run away with the team title at Thursday’s Section II, Class A meet in Guilderland. Shen finished with 148 points, while Shaker took second place with 68 points.
Evan Palmer, James Schwendtner and Patrell Brown won individual events for the Plainsmen. Palmer took first place in the shot put with a throw of 50 feet, 4.5 inches, while Schwendtner — who finished second in the shot put — won the discus with a throw of 152 feet, 5 inches. Brown finished first in the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.46 seconds.
Shaker had a pair of individual champions. R.J. Sniffen won the 800 in a time of 1:56.26, and Chris Manico finished first in the 3,000 steeplechase with a time of 9:57.24.
Niskayuna’s Louis Serafini, Saratoga’s Cameron Benidt and Bethlehem’s Sam Smith also won individual titles. Serafini claimed the 1,600 title with a time of 4:24.02, Benidt won the 200 dash in a time of 22.52 seconds and Smith finished first in the pentathlon with 3,164 points.
Colonie won all three relays. The quartet of Chris White, Ryan Nolan, Drew Rivera and Nick Colello won the 400 relay in a time of 43.92 seconds. Rivera and Nolan then teamed up with Derrick Ingleston and Tyler Stewart to win the 1,600 relay in a time of 3:25.03. Stewart, Brian Treadway, Joe Emory and Nick Santos finished first in the 3,200 relay with a time of 8:04.27.`
