Joseph P Sullivan, an Albany City Democrat, announced he is running for Congress in the 21st District as a Conservative Democrat in the Sept. 9 Democratic Primary.
Sullivan said some of his top priorities include national security; emergency/disaster preparedness; securing national borders; dealing with tens of millions of illegal aliens who have violated our national sovereignty; and combating terrorism.
`National security is the priority issue. If we are not safe, and if we cannot assure the continued availability of affordably priced oil, our economy will collapse, our way of life will disappear and our country will cease to exist,` according to his campaign press release. `All the other issues being focused on in various local, state and national elections won’t matter.`
A Navy veteran, Sullivan has a bachelor’s degree in Geography, which he received on the Korean GI Bill, and a master’s degree in Geography that he attended on a National Fellowship. Sullivan, a former Albany Republican committee member, lives in Albany with his wife, Margaret, and has four grown children.
He is currently retired and serves as president for the Buckingham Pond/Crestwood Neighborhood Association in Albany.
In his release, Sullivan said he would, `rather stay home with his two, Australian Shepherds, Red Paddy and Spotted Mick. However, duty calls.`
