The Ballston Spa Board of Education has concluded the selection process for a new Superintendent of Schools after a lengthy process that started last fall. Board of Education President, Kathleen Jarvis, announced that the Board had made a unanimous decision that Dr. Joseph Dragone, Assistant Superintendent at City School District of Albany, is the educational leader that will continue the district’s current initiatives and address student achievement. The process included screening applications, interviewing candidates, various group interviews and public presentations during the last few months.
At this time, a contract is being finalized with Dr. Dragone and the Board of Education plans to appoint him to the position on May 14, 2008. He comes to the district with 15 years experience as an educator in public schools throughout the capital region. His career path includes classroom teaching, curriculum coordination, building leadership and his current responsibilities for secondary education. His doctorate was completed at SUNY Albany and his Masters and Bachelors were earned from The College of St. Rose. He currently lives with his wife in Clifton Park.
