The Clifton Park Republican Committee will vote to fill two executive board positions Thursday, Feb. 7, during their committee meeting.
In an attempt to unify the party, committee members Bob Wilcox and Adam Kramer met Wednesday, Jan. 30, and decided to run on a ticket together for chairman and vice chairman of campaigns and communications, respectively. The ticket is unopposed.
The most important thing is that the Clifton Park Republicans are unified, said Kramer, who sought the chairmanship, but after meeting with Wilcox decided to run for vice chairman of campaigns and communication position. If elected, Kramer would be the first to hold the newly created post.
Kramer works for Assemblyman Jim Tedisco, R,C,I-Schenectady.
Kramer said the Republicans have accomplished several tasks in 2007, including awarding $150 rebate checks to every household in town, and that 2008 will hopefully be just as good.
`It’s a wonderful way to start out the New Year,` Vice Chairman Neil Weiner said of the agreement reached between Kramer and Wilcox.
Weiner has served as the committee’s leader since December when Mike Lisuzzo resigned after a vote of no confidence by the committee.
Weiner said, `It will be great to have them on the executive board.`
Committee member Anita Daly, who is also a Saratoga County supervisor, said, `The Clifton Park Republican Committee stands very committed behind the Wilcox/Kramer team.`
She said the agreement was a, `great show of leadership on the part of Bob Wilcox.`
Wilcox resigned from the Clifton Park Water Authority, Thursday, Jan. 17, where he served as counsel for more than 10 years. He was forced to resign after the CPWA issued a resolution forcing him to choose between a position with the Clifton Park Republican Committee and the water authority.
Wilcox also accepted a job with Saratoga County that was created in the 2008 budget. Details about the position were unavailable.“
