Bethlehem residents without power can find relief from the heat at Bethlehem’s Town Hall where lemonade, ice water and cookies are available in a cool environment.
According to the town’s director of senior services Karen Pellettier, the department has been calling hundreds of local seniors to make sure they are staying safe in the extreme heat. The department’s vans have also been transporting seniors and the town’s Meals on Wheels program has been making personal house calls.
The older folks have been gateful for the calls and support, Pellettier said.
Power was knocked out to many residents in Albany County due to severe thunderstorms throughout the Capital Region Monday afternoon.
Bethlehem’s Town Hall is located on Delaware Avenue in Delmar. For more information call 439-4955.
