Schalmont Central School District residents voted by a margin of 626 to 480 to pass the proposal of $40,093,742 for the 2007-08 school budget.
The proposal represents a $1,893,742, or 4.96 percent, total spending increase over last year’s budget. This means that the amount of money that the district collects from local tax payers (i.e. school tax levy) will increase by approximately 4.5 percent. The district will not be able to provide tax rates for district residents until August.
