After two years of heading the state’s charge on environmental and conservation challenges, Denise Sheehan will be returning to her hometown to meet many of the same challenges within Colonie’s borders.
Sheehan, 42, relinquished her position as commissioner of the state Department of Environmental Conservation last week to head Colonie’s Planning and Economic Development Department.
She was named department director at a Thursday, Jan. 18, Colonie town board meeting. She is set to begin next month.
She fills the vacancy left by former director Philip Pearson, who retired from the post last month after 10 years.`
