James MacFarland, director of human services for Glenville, announced this week that the town’s skating rinks at Indian Meadows Park are open and will remain open as weather and ice conditions allow.
There are two rinks, one for general public skating and one for recreational hockey, and there is no charge to use either rink.
The hours are sunrise through 9 p.m. daily, as the rinks are lighted. The general park hours are sunrise to sunset.
There will be a warming hut open during busy periods, which are generally Monday through Friday from 4 to 8 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from noon to 8 p.m.
Due to the constantly changing conditions of outdoor ice, the open or closed status is indicated by the entry gate when the gate is open, the rinks are open.
Skaters must bring their own skates.
No pets are allowed on the ice, and rest rooms are a two-minute walk from the rinks.
When snow cover allows, Indian Meadows also has cross-country skiing areas. Sledding is available adjacent to the park center building.
