The Bethlehem town seal will not be changed.
Town officials voted unanimously Wednesday night to keep the seal depicting explorer Henry Hudson and an American Indian standing side by side with a view of the Half Moon ship sailing the Hudson River in the background.
`The seal has served us well,` said board member Sam Messina. `We should have pride from here forward and accept it as is.`
Outgoing board member and current 108th district Assemblyman Tim Gordon first raised the issue of changing the town seal back in December.
The Bethlehem Historical Association unanimously agreed during their annual meeting earlier in the month that the town seals should be left alone.
The town seal was designed in 1975 for the U.S. Bicentennial.
