Albany International Airport officials have advised air travelers departing from the airport to not wrap holiday gift packages that they intend to carry on their trip.
Items that are not clearly identifiable are likely to be unwrapped at the security checkpoint to enable positive identification. Items declared as checked luggage at the ticket counter are also subject to full inspection.
Travelers are being asked to arrive at the airport at least 90 minutes before their scheduled flight, especially during peak travel periods.
Peak travel periods at Albany International Airport are from 5 a.m. to 8 a.m. and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The Transportation Security Administration has also imposed limits on the amounts of liquids, gels and aerosols that may be taken through the security checkpoint to 3 ounces or less. All liquids, gels and aerosols to be taken through the security checkpoints must fit inside a 1-quart, resealable plastic bag.
