Veeder elementary schools students finished their school day Thursday in spite of a natural gas leak that broke up their day.
Crews working outside the South Colonie School District school accidentally punctured a National Grid natural gas line around 10 a.m.
Crews immediately contacted local emergency response and National Grid.
Students were bussed to Lisha Kill Middle School while the line was repaired and crews monitored the air inside the school for the presence of gas.
No gas was detected and by 11:15 a.m. and students were back at Veeder to finish their day.
No one was hurt, said district spokesman John Noetzel.
It is always good to see emergency procedures followed and carried out successfully, he said.
