The Capital District Humanist Society Presents: THE “WOMAN LIFE FREEDOM” MOVEMENT IN IRAN
February 12 @ 1:00 pm
Mahsa-Jina Amini, a 22-year-old Kurdish woman, was arrested by the morality police in Iran. She died three days later, in Tehran’s Kasra hospital, due to the severe injuries inflicted on her. The regime tried to keep the cause of her death a secret and threatened her family to keep them quiet, but her mother cried out while she was caressing her daughter’s tombstone, that her name would become the unifying code word of the revolution. The killing of this innocent woman sparked of the “Woman Life Freedom” movement in Iran.
Brave Iranians, mostly women, and students are standing in solidarity for freedom. Elahe Gol Pari, who lived 40 years under Iran’s religious dictatorship, tells their story. Elahe – a playwright, screenwriter, performer, director, and documentary filmmaker, has focused her work on discovering the range of human capabilities for overcoming adversity.
This program will take place via Zoom, on Sunday, February 12th, at 1 PM.
