Garden Education Fair
June 3 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
The Master Gardeners of Albany County are putting on their first-ever Garden Education Fair from 9 a.m.-noon on June 3. It will run for free, rain or shine, for gardeners of all ages and experience levels in the Voorheesville gardens of the Cornell Cooperative Extension at 24 Martin Road.
While native plants and perennials will be on sale, along with crafts and gently used and bargain-priced garden tools, the event is really about teaching gardeners how to turn their backyards into places beautiful not just to people but to bees, birds, and other living creatures.
Visit the fair to tour the various gardens, learn easy ways to compost kitchen waste into fertilizer, build a seed bomb, and test the soil of your lawn or flower beds for acidity and soil type. Cookie the Calf, a scavenger hunt, and Garden Yoga are on tap for kids. Adult fairgoers will be able to ask Master Gardener experts questions or advice on anything from “What do I do about tomato hornworms?” to “When should I prune my forsythia bushes?”
