Albany Lantern Parade 2021

November 7 @ 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm

Free

The Washington Park Conservancy and the City of Albany invite residents to join the sixth annual Albany Lantern Parade in Washington Park.  This free, family friendly event showcases community, creativity, and neighbors coming together from across the Capital Region to illuminate a chilly evening.  At 4:30p, participants will start to gather at the Lake House and will begin to walk at sundown, shortly before 5p.

Don’t have a lantern? In lieu of the workshops typically held in the weeks before the event, the Albany Public Library is offering free lantern-making kits so participants can create lanterns using recycled bottles. Contact your neighborhood branch to reserve a kit – or use up some wrinkled tissue paper from home!

Please note, for safety of one another and the environment, all lanterns will be hand-held, not released into the sky or lake. Battery-operated tealight candles will be available for use.

To learn more about the event, please visit Albany Lantern Parade’s Facebook page or email event organizer Sarah Read at [email protected]

This event is co-sponsored by the City of Albany and the Washington Park Conservancy. The Conservancy is a non-profit organization formed in 1985 that helps the city restore, preserve, and maintain Albany’s historic Washington Park.
